Instruct DWP to stop referring to State Retirement Pension as a Benefit!
Any reference to State Pension to be called exactly that!
Nowhere should the State Pension be called a BENEFIT!
The State Pension is paid as a result of workers paying in to the pension scheme all through their working life. Benefits are payments given to people in need for a whole variety of reasons!
State Pension is NOT a Benefit!

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
People become eligible for the state pension by paying National Insurance or accruing National Insurance credit, but the state pension is a state benefit and not a pension scheme underpinned by a pension fund.
Other benefits, such as new-style Employment Support Allowance, also have eligibility conditions relating to National Insurance contributions, but this does not mean they are not a state benefit.
