Flood Aid versus Foreign Aid

Additional Information

Responsible department: Department for International Development

We have a disaster situation in this Country.
We should now divert and curb foreign funding to Countries that do not need or want our contribution such as India, China and regimes that do not directly ensure funding goes to their peoples.
£8 billion increasing to £11.4 billion in 2015 is allocated by this Government for International Development.
The £280 million aid going to India and £27 million to China should be stopped now.
Funding thus saved should now be used for Flood Defence, dredging for rivers, restoration of defences and infrastructure and aid for victims so that they do not have to rely on Insurance and compensation for farmers who we rely on for food.
This policy would provide new money in these times of extreme austerity in our Country
Future savings should be channelled to help our poor and alleviate the necessity of Food Banks so that poverty is reduced in this Country
