Reduce the salary of Members of Parliament who have earnings from other sources.
The Government should introduce legislation that will require that the salary of Members of Parliament be reduced in line with the reduction in Universal Credit for benefit claimants who have earnings. This is currently a reduction of 55p for every £1 that is earned.
This legislation would apply to any MP that has earnings from employment outside of their work as an MP. Examples being such as a salary earned for, acting as a consultant to a business, being a director of a company or any self-employment.
This would not apply to earnings such as those from share holdings etc. nor to those who need to keep experience in the career such as medical practitioners, commercial pilots etc.
The reduction to be in line with the reduction applied to Universal Credit.
