Declare carers as workers, entitled to worker's rights including minimum wage.
End Carers Allowance, Income Support and UC for carers and replace it with a formal payroll system, defining carers as workers with the same rights as workers, including paying them the living wage.
For far too long, carers have been defined in law as not being workers in order to deprive them of having the same rights as their private and public sector counterparts. Parliament has the opportunity to change that by defining them as members of the workforce, remunerating them properly and creating a post-pandemic economic stimulus by doing so.
