Reduce VAT on Petrol and Diesel to 5%
The cost of petrol and diesel have reached an all-time high. To mitigate the effect of rising petrol and diesel prices, the government should cut VAT on fuels to 5%.
The cost of filling a 50 litre car with petrol is now over £80 and diesel is even more expensive.
As it stands about 26p a litre of what drivers are paying on the forecourt is attributable to VAT and that comes on top of 58p a litre already paid in fuel duty.
The government should reduce VAT from 20% to 5% to ease the burden on average families already struggling with rising energy and food prices.
