Change the law on Mental Health declarations

Petition Details

Following extensive research and discovering that there is 32,163 schools in the UK; only 2% have signed the Mental Health declaration this means that 25,731 did not sign.
We are asking the government to make this compulsory and a priority, making it mandatory for schools to sign the declaration.

Additional Information

Mental Health is on the rise more so in adolescence, From rough statistics from the NHS 70,000 students entering university will have a Mental Health issue this is an extortionate 450% increase!

To break that down, there are 20,806 primary schools with an average of 150-300 students. There are 4,190 secondary schools with averages of 500-1200 students. Just on the bare minimum figures that equates to 3,120,900 students which 2% equates to 624,180 students able to access support at school.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

There's already a petition about this issue. We cannot accept a new petition when we already have one about a very similar issue.

You are more likely to get action on this issue if you sign and share a single petition.

It's up to individual schools what declarations to sign up to, but we have published the following petition, which you might like to sign:

Create a statutory Mental Health & Wellbeing Policy for all schools & colleges: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/611264
