Petition Action

Ban the commercial breeding of laboratory animals and end vivisection in the UK

Petition Details

Revise Section 24 ASPA 1986, so an independent Non Animal Methods specialist committee can review every PIL application for replacement with human relevant methods

Revoke PEL's for UK commercial breeders of laboratory animals.
Lobby International Regulators to promote validated and approved NAMs

Additional Information

Due to species differences, 92% of drugs which prove promising in animal trials fail in human clinical trials. There is substantial evidence that shows animal tests are poor predictors of drug safety and toxicity in humans.

The use of animals is scientifically, ethically, morally and financially (taxpayer funded) unjustifiable.

Defined in 1959, UK law enshrines the principles of the 3Rs. The UK must abandon these principles and redirect funding to focus on the development and use of NAMS.
