Getting MP's who are more representative of the general public
To become an MP you must:
- have spent at least 8 years in work outside politics
- have averaged 4 hours a week over four years, in a voluntary organisation, as a 'hands on' operative. Nurses, social workers, teachers etc to be exempt this rule
- have lived for 5 years, full time, in the constituency you wish to represent
- agree to use the NHS and state schools after election
Once elected you must:
- leave after three full Parliaments
- not take employment connected with any past government position for 8 years
- be subject to this universal media rule: if any question is put to you twice and not answered directly, the interview will be terminated. Matters restricted for legal or security reasons excepted.
Finally
- the PM must debate, on TV, with randomly selected members of the public, once a month for two hours
