NEW LEGISLATION TO IMPROVE RENTED ACCOMODATION
For the Government to introduce legislation requiring landlords in the social and private sectors to adhere to strict policies regarding the internal and external maintenance of properties they own.
For there to be the introduction of a housing ombudsman or department who will be able to assist tenants with complaints should these rules not be followed by the landlord.
For all landlords to be signed up to a compulsory landlord register, which will show their compliance with the above legislation and confirm their understanding of their rights in reference to the homes they own and their tenants
For the landlord to lose his/her/companies right to be a landlord should they fail to comply with the new legislation and to be removed from the compulsory landlord register.
