Save UK soil: increase soil organic matter to 3% by 2045 in agricultural land.
Save UK soil: Put policy to commit and put actions in place to increase soil organic matter content in agriculture to a minimum of 3% by 2045. I believe that this would prevent the significant risk of national and domestic food shortages that could occur from around 2065 onwards.
Without this policy change I believe that there is significant risk of national and domestic food shortages occurring from around 2065 onwards, affecting many of our generation and the next. I believe that the policy has the potential to turn the tables on mitigating climate change and increasing ground water resources. This is a global movement supported by UNEP, WFP & UNCCD. It's an issue that without action is likely to negatively affect either us or our children if we don't take action.
