A three day weekend for all (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)

Petition Details

I would like the Government or Parliament to make it law that all people should be able to have a 3 day weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday).

Additional Information

I signed a petition about children having a 3 day weekend including Friday, but parents and others are working on Fridays so there may be nobody to look after them. Where as if all had a three day weekend parents would be able to look after children with no worry or struggle.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We can only accept petitions about things the Government or Parliament are directly responsible for. Decisions about the days people work are a matter for individuals and their employers, not the UK Government or Parliament.

We could accept a petition calling for a minimum 3 days off per working week, but it would still be a decision for employers and employees how that was managed.
