Petition Action

Stop YouTube animal cruelty entertainment culture.

Petition Details

legislation needs to be put in pace to make companies such as YouTube accountable for inadaquate monitoring and subsequently allowing animal cruelty and suffering videos.

Additional Information

These videos are not there for educational use and simply intended for 'entertainment'.
There are multiple accounts with 100s of videos of animal live feedings.
These channels strive for entertainment value and will often feed inappropriately sized animals to each other just to see them struggle and fight.
These videos on YouTube are not promoting the correct education. They are simply supporting animal abuse, cruelty, suffering and MUST be stopped!

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

It is already an offence to cause unnecessary suffering to an animal: www.gov.uk/guidance/animal-welfare

It is also a specific offence to publish or show films involving animal cruelty: www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/Edw8and1Geo6/1/59/section/1

Ensuring they are compliant with UK law is a matter for individual video hosting websites. Decisions about investigating and prosecuting alleged crimes are a matter for the police and Crown Prosecution Service, not the Government or Parliament.

If you think that a crime has been committed, you should contact the police here: www.police.uk/contact/
