Petition Action

Abolish no recourse to public funds (NRPF) visa conditions

Petition Details

NRPF leaves people unable to access benefits and housing assistance, forcing too many into destitution and unsafe situations. The Government should end this policy in order to reduce destitution, bring dignity to those in need, and as research strongly suggests, it would save the country money.

Additional Information

"In my bank there’s no penny. That is how I live, no money. How, I say to myself, how is it that this lady, is suffering beyond expression?"

"We were eventually given accommodation, but the bath is dripping through the floor, we are washing clothes by hand, the heating is not working, we are freezing"

A recent report (https://data.london.gov.uk/dataset/scba-nrpf-policy-in-london) suggests that ending NRPF could result in societal gains of up to £872 million. Ending NRPF makes sense for everyone.
