Scrap plans to privatise Channel 4
Channel 4 is under threat. The government plans to sell the publicly owned channel to a private buyer. This will seriously damage the creative sector, affecting how much the channel spends in different UK regions - undermining its remit to reflect interests of different communities across the UK.
Each year Channel 4 works with around 300 creative companies across the UK to develop incredible programmes like recent dramas Help, It's a Sin and current affairs show Unreported World and has helped develop the UK’s creative sector into a global force. its unique model - commercially-funded but with a public benefit remit – allows the Channel to commission programmes that showcase Britain in all of its diversity and its privatisation would seriously undermine this and must be stopped.
