Petition Action

Stop moving forward with plans to privatise Channel 4.

Petition Details

The government should stop moving forward with it’s plans to privatise Channel 4, and protect it’s status as a public service broadcaster.

Additional Information

Channel 4 has effectively served the British public since the 1980s. It is firmly commited to the principles of public service broadcasting, and through rules on in-house productions, provides work for independent production companies across the country.
There is no logical reason for the planned privatisation, which many in media fear will harm their future employment prospects, the industry in the North, and C4’s long-proven commitment to the principles of public service broadcasting.
