Petition Action

Ban all fire retardants / oblige suppliers to include chemicals used on labels

Petition Details

Ban all fire retardants and chemicals from furniture and appliances that we are exposed to daily. All suppliers must be legally obliged to be 100% transparent and label all the chemicals used when manufacturing their products. We have the right to choose what we bring into our homes before purchase.

Additional Information

The UK government has repeateadly ignored the health risks that fire retardants posing to our health for decades. While Europe and USA is banning these nasty chemicals, UK residents must be by law exposed to them. It is time to put an end to the systematic poisoning of our nation. We demand and have every right to live a healthy life. Fire retardants cause cancer, autoimmune diseases, thyroid disruption, pet cancer and the 'safety' that they provide is more than questionable.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. We're not sure if you want retardants to be banned or just included on labelling.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
