Petition Action

Debate mandatory requirement to resign as an MP if guilty of a criminal offence

Petition Details

I want parliament to introduce a bill that requires a sitting MP to resign his or her post immediately if found guilty of breaking the law and receiving a fine, custodial sentence or similar reprimand from the UK police or judiciary

Additional Information

It has become clear that in the past it was left to our leaders to do the right thing as expected by the British people in regards to the behaviours of our representatives. It no longer seems that this system based in trust and a sense of moral obligation and fair play is fit for purpose
