Dissolve the government and hold a general election.
Parliament is the crucible for debating issues of national interest. The nation has lost confidence and respect in the government and that should be reflected in a parliamentary debate. Put simply, Parliament should hold a confidence debate in the current government.
Prof Meg Russell of the Constitution Unit at UCL explains this far better than I could: "The prime minister & chancellor have broken the ministerial code on two counts [law breaking & misleading parliament] ... Both are resigning matters, but the keeper of the code is the PM himself."
"In the absence of compliance it falls to MPs to act. In our political constitution, which puts parliament at the core, they bear the heavy constitutional responsibility of protecting the integrity of the system."
