Make Eid ul Fitr a public holiday
Every year, Muslims around the world fast for 29 or 30 days during the month of Ramadan. The day of Eid (ul-fitr) marks the end of the Ramadan fasting period and sees Muslims come together for the Eid prayers and festivities. Muslims in the UK would like to have government approved public holidays.
Having a government approved public holiday would give the growing number of Muslims in the UK, the opportunity to celebrate Eid freely, away from work, remove any awkwardness of having to request day(s) off and increase the sense of religious inclusion.
