Institute a Humanitarian Operational Service Medal
To recognise service by civilians and military deployed by Her Majesty’s Government in operations of a humanitarian nature, or who have rendered a service to mankind and that no other UN/NATO or UK medal is available. Operations which merit consideration for the Medal include disaster, flood, tornado and earthquake relief work, or rescue/hostage operations anywhere in the world.
Criteria one day’s service.
Specific operations to include,
Libya 2011
Haiti 2010,
Cumbrian Floods (2009)
Pakistan earthquake, November 2005 and 2010
Hurricane Katrina, September 2005
Operation Garron (tsunami) in Indonesia in 2004
A clasp to be issued for each operation
