Withdraw from the UK-Rwanda Asylum Partnership Arrangement
The Government should withdraw from the Asylum Partnership Arrangement provision of the UK and Rwanda Migration and Economic Partnership under Paragraph 23.5 of the policy
The United Kingdom has an obligation, under international law, to ensure access for asylum seekers. This proposal breaches international law by neglecting the responsibility of the United Kingdom to consider refugee status and outsourcing it to Rwanda. (UNHCR)
The proposal is similar to Australia’s current migrant offshore processing policy, which has proved to be cruel, costly and ineffective. (Kaldor Centre)
