Stop the relocation of unauthorized immigrants arriving in the UK to Rwanda
The UK government is proposing a scheme that will see "tens of thousands" of unauthorized adult immigrants arriving in the UK of the coming years relocated to Rwanda.
Under proposals, individuals will be assessed and decisions made based on the "strength" of asylum claims - however, details on the assessment and criteria used are sparse. The United Nations refugee agency warned that the shifting of responsibility by the UK for claimants of refugee status could be a breach of international law. Amnesty International also raised concerns regarding human rights issues present in Rwanda relating to the right to a fair trial, freedom of expression and privacy.
