Caring should be given professional status to stop the exodus of carers
In the past 6 months there has been an exodus of carers from care homes who are burnt out from working 12 hour shifts for not much more than the minimum wage.
You can't sign this petition because it was rejected. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
We understand you are concerned about the status of care workers, however there are already carer roles which are professionally recognised. It's therefore not clear what roles you want to be given professional status, which body would grant them that status, nor what services or rights you want them to be granted under this 'professional' status.
You could have a petition calling on the Government to hold a review to investigate what can be done to improve the recruitment and retention of care workers, if that is something you'd like to see happen.
