Legal minimum for hamster cage sizes

Petition Details

Please change the legal minimum size for hamster cages as they are is far too small

Additional Information

The minimum size for hamster cages as they are in the UK is far too small and needs to be changed the RSPCA states the minimum size for a hamster cage should be at least 80x50cm (4000 square centimetres) which is just far too small and in Germany, the minimum is 100x50 cm (5000 square centimetres) or 775 square inches as a minimum

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. We understand you'd like to see an increase in the minimum size of hamster cages, but we're not sure if you'd like it to be the same as the German minimum or something different.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
