According to national rail, the following, are just reasons for fining customers: -

Damaged Ticket
Lost, stolen or mislaid tickets

Genuine, paying customers are therefore being fined for, in many cases, issues out of their control and because it is in the terms of conditions of buying the ticket, there is currently no way to stop this.

Proof of payment and proof or purchase should be valid and accepted by ticket inspectors because as it stands, this is an unjust way to run things and is a money making scam for an already overpriced service.
Something needs to be done to stop innocent passengers being fined huge amounts of money for tickets they have paid for.
