Introduce new regulation and guidance for workplace mental health and wellbeing
Introduce new regulations and detailed supporting guidance to better protect employees and increase support to employers in the effective and proactive management of work-related mental health and wellbeing.
In 2020/21 stress, depression or anxiety accounted for 50% of all work-related ill health cases (source: Health and Safety Executive).
Evidenced by the prevalence of these issues, there must be improvement in the current governing legal framework and supporting guidance.
This will benefit employees with mentally safer workplaces and employers from reduced sickness absence and increased productivity. In addition this costs the economy billions each year. We must improve the current situation.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We understand that you want to see improved mental health and wellbeing for employees, but it's not clear what new regulations or guidance you want the Government to introduce.
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
