Petition Action

Make the House of Commons canteen only serve meals that cost 30p to make

Petition Details

MP Lee Anderson recently made some foolish comments about people not being able cook and that food banks were not essential. He recently went on to show how meals could be made for as little as 30p in an industrial kitchen with a number of chefs.

It would be for MPs to practice what they preach

Additional Information

It is essential that those that represent us, understand us. Never expect a citizen of this country to do something, that an MP is not prepared to do themselves.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. The House of Commons has a number of catering outlets that offer food for staff working on the Parliamentary estate, including Members of Parliament. We're not sure whether you want all of these venues to prepare meals only to a value of 30p in all circumstances, or if you'd like MPs only to be eligible to purchase meals to a value of 30p in catering outlets.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
