Use indelible ink to help prevent multiple voting in general elections
I welcome the new legislation to bring about mandatory photographic identification in order to vote in certain elections. This was introduced in 2003 in Northern Ireland under the last Labour government. We need to follow the example of India, the world's largest democracy.
In India, they have used fingerprint voting where, on voting, your index finger is marked with indelible ink in order to prevent multiple voting. I welcome photographic ID in order to prove that you have the right to vote but we need to follow the example of the Indian government to prevent multiple fraudulent votes.
