The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We are sorry to hear about your loss. Please accept our condolences.

We can only accept petitions call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action. We understand that you are concerned about existing rules for Government help with funeral costs, but it's not clear how you want these rules to be changed. Anyone who is a close relative of the deceased, including a brother or sister, can claim a funeral expenses payment, if they meet the other eligibility criteria for these payments: www.gov.uk/funeral-payments/eligibility

We could accept a petition calling for changes to eligibility for these payments, but it would need to be clear what changes you want to be made.

If you need help dealing with your debt, Citizens Advice has published some advice on this, which might be helpful: www.citizensadvice.org.uk/debt-and-money/help-with-debt/
