Petition Action

change the eligibility for PIP, or how entitlements to PIP are assessed

Petition Details

Change the process on how PiP assessments are handled or are completed. Change the eligibility for applying

Additional Information

A lot of people struggle to get their entitlement to PiP because they don’t have a confirmed title to their illness. This doesn’t mean their struggle or pain isn’t real.
The process for applying needs to change to make it easier and encourage more people who are in genuine need of PIP to apply. The horror stories published put people off of applying.
Also if somebody has a chronic condition diagnosed - the time scale for PIP should be indefinite with review every 10 years

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We understand that you want to see changes relating to the Personal Independence Payment (PIP) changed, but it's not clear how you want the Government to change eligibility for this benefit, or how entitlements for PIP are assessed.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
