Petition Action

Require online review sites to prevent fraudulent reviews.

Petition Details

Businesses have suffered enough through the COVID-19 Pandemic. The freedom for people to post fraudulent or false reviews on sites such as Tripadvisor or Google has been used to harass and damage the reputations of businesses at a time that should be about business growth.

Additional Information

The Government should create legal requirements for review sites to require them to check for proof of visiting or using a business prior to leaving a review (such as providing proof of receipt or a code given at the time of service). This should prevent fraudulent attacks on businesses by competitors or individuals posting false reviews, allowing businesses to better adapt to real life issues and grow appropriately, rather than being subject to bullying cyber attacks.
