Do not reform UK data protection laws (GDPR)
We want the Government to abandon plans to reform the UK's data protection regime. We believe plans to reduce burdens on businesses are incompatible with protecting individual rights, and could make it easier for people's data to be misused.
Moving the UK's data protection regime out of alignment with the EU could also create additional costs for businesses that operate internationally, and some businesses may even choose to relocate as a result.
It is possible reforms could mean the EU no longer deems the UK's data protection regime as adequate, which would make it more difficult for UK businesses operating in the EU.
