Make recommended size cages law for small animals to stop inadequate housing
I would like the Goverment to have a law that small pets need a minimum cage size based on animal welfare recommendations to stop pet shops from housing animals in their tiny cages which are unsuitable as well as selling cages that is below this size requirement.
A simple Google search will tell someone what the recommended housing size for small pets are. However pet shops get away with keeping animals way below these as well as sell tiny cages which promote bad pet care. The rspca recommend hamsters have a cage size of 80x50cm. Guinea pigs require 120x60cm for two pigs. Rabbits require 3x2m. All pets need to have a minimum cage size that both owners and pet shops need to comply to make sure to provide quality animal welfare.
