Cap the discount that can be applied by internet and television providers
Providers of internet and television services inflate the true value of their services before providing hefty upfront discounts. They then take advantage of the automatic renewal process which requires no input from the customer to roll-over onto the heavily inflated undiscounted price.
Place a cap on the percent (%) discount that can be applied to a product, so that the undiscounted rate more accurately reflects the real value of the product. This will limit the increase
AND/OR
Stop automatic renewals when the renewal price exceeds a given percentage (%) of the original price.
My bill was due to renew with an 89% increase whilst new customers were able to join at a rate that was 4% below my current rate for the exact same product.
These practices punish the vulnerable.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
It is a matter for individual internet and television companies to decide how they market and price their services, rather than the Government.
