Help solve the NHS staffing crisis
The NMC enforces strict guidelines on English skills for overseas nurses wishing to work in the UK, the IELTS test, followed by the OET. They must be able to prove that communication with patients took place in English. They must practice for a year in a majority English speaking country.
The NMC has their own list of "majority English speaking countries", and citizens of these countries are able to come and work in the UK as nurses without delays.
Our care homes are filled with qualified nurses, while our NHS hospitals are on the brink of collapse due to shortages of staff.
We urge the NMC to extend these conditions to all nurses who can prove that they have either learned their degree in English, or have other proof that their English is proficient to practice in the UK.

We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the issue you raise.
The content and application of Nursing and Midwifery Council guidelines is an operational matter for the NMC, not the UK Government or Parliament.
