Amend Housing Act 1988
Amend Housing Act 1988 so that the provisions only apply to true Assured Shorthold Tenancies rather than to long residential leases (21 years +).
The provisions currently lead to the risk that the lease of a long residential lease can be terminated if ground rent remains unpaid for more than three months (where ground rent rises to £250pa/£1000pa).
Once Court proceedings are commenced there is no ability to clear the arrears to prevent the termination. This is onerous and unnecessary where a premium has been paid to purchase the property.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
It's not clear if you want all provisions of the Housing Act 1998 relating to long-term tenancies to be repealed, or just for this legislation to be amended so that non-payment of ground rent cannot be used as a ground for eviction for long-term tenancies.
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
