Petition Action

The UK government should recommend a boycott of the Sochi Winter Paralympics following the occupation of Crimea

Additional Information

It is the responsibility of the UK govT to take all measures to protect its citizens in times of instability and conflict, and to not to give support to authoritarian regimes whose policies run contrary to our most basic beliefs.

Those beliefs include the sanctity of borders, and the right to be free from foreign oppression, incursion or occupation. We believe that for ourselves, and for others.

Russia in recent days has made a mockery of that belief. It has flagrantly and unapologetically occupied parts of Ukraine.

This cannot go unanswered by the international community or by the British government.

In the next week, the Winter Paralympic games start in the Russian city of Sochi.

The British government should recommend no British citizens (spectators or athletes) attend. The British government should recommend a boycott.
