Automate all national trains, and London Underground trains
Lead the world by investing in the full automation of the entire train network. Do this to increase efficiency, reliability, service standards, safety and frequency of trains whilst reducing costs in the medium to long term.
The train network relies on fallible train "drivers" being consistently alert & available.
Trains stop at red lights and go at green lights following designated speeds. Proven technology automating more complex vehicles with millions of variables, successfully run in many cities around the world.
The UK with its proud history of innovation could, with partners, easily automate the entire network making it safer, more efficient, frequent & reliable.
Tickets cost might reduce.
