End western reliance on Russian natural resources
What is the point in the Western world voicing it's concern about Russia in the Ukraine if we can't back it up with major financial and political muscle. What is holding back the west , especially Europe : Reliance on Russian oil and Gas.
The time has come for a major western research fund for R&D into replacements for oil and gas - a few billion a year on nuclear fusion development is not enough.
Foreign,energy and military defence policy is pointless when we have no control over our own energy requirements - especially when it is controlled by a hostile foreign power.
