More protection for customer-facing roles
Implement laws to protect employees in customer-facing roles from abusive customers
Every day thousands of employees in customer-facing jobs, such as healthcare and hospitality, get abused by customers who won’t get things their way. The struggle between making sure some rules and regulations are followed and pleasing the customer is getting harder and harder every day with hundreds of resignations due to stress.
This needs to change.
Verbal abuse, threats, non-consensual photos plastered over social media with defamatory intent - this needs to change.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We understand that you are concerned about protections for workers in customer-facing roles, but it's not clear what you want the Government to do to better protect these workers.
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do. For example, we could accept a petition calling on the Government to make it a specific criminal offence to abuse, threaten or assault certain types of workers, if that's something you'd like to happen.
