Petition Action

Regulate feed in tariffs

Petition Details

With ever rising electricity tariffs energy companies should be regulated to ensure feed in tariffs for homeowners with solar panels are reasonable.

Additional Information

It would make sense to link a company’s feed in traffic to its standard tariff, eg 80%.
So when tariffs go up so do feed in tariffs.
It’s scandalous to charge a customer 35p /kWh and yet give them 5p /kWh when they feed back into the grid.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

There's already a petition about this issue. We cannot accept a new petition when we already have one about a very similar issue.

You are more likely to get action on this issue if you sign and share a single petition.

The Feed-in tariff scheme is already regulated, although it closed to new applicants in April 2019 (with some exceptions), and has been replaced by the smart export guarantee (SEG).

We have published the following petitions calling for Feed-in tariffs to be reintroduced for domestic solar panels, and for the Feed-in tariff rate for energy generated by domestic solar panels to be increased, which you might like to sign:

Reintroduce Feed-in Tariffs for domestic solar panels: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/609063

Raise the level of the Feed In Tariff (FIT) for those with home Solar Panels: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/614107
