Petition Details

Enforce para 1b and make it default to support families. Also to stipulate that foster companies are non profit and make it an offence to ignore the key element in para 17 that is to focus on a "child in need" and not auto dispose to the "child in need of protection".

Additional Information

To provide for and promote families for the best interest and safeguarding of the children.
Prevent harm to children by keeping them in their families and prevent the profiteering opportunity for unscrupulous companies to harm children for profit.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Section 17 Paragraph 1(b) of the Children Act 1989 is already in force and can therefore be legally enforced. Decisions on whether legal requirements are met are a matter for the courts.

If you'd like a change to the law, you could start a new petition setting out clearly what you'd like to be changed.
