Reduce the amount of VAT increases, people are struggling to provide essentials
As a society we have noticed all citizens are struggling to provide for the basic essentials e.g food, bills and fuel costs. We would like the government to consider making these needs more accessible by reducing the percentage increase e.g roughly, taxes have increased by 9% within this year (2022)
We would like the government to consider our petition due to citizens mental health declining, putting strain on the NHS causing even more vulnerability as their service will be needed. During tax increases families will also be struggling to provide food and other essentials, e.g this can cause malnutrition ( putting tension again on the NHS). If the Government was to agree with our petition we truly believe that families and citizens will be more secure, mentally & financially.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We understand that you are concerned about increasing prices, but we're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.
VAT rates have not been increased recently (although a temporary reduction to the VAT rate for leisure and hospitality ended in March).
We have published the following petitions, which you might like to sign:
Cut the standard VAT rate from 20% to 5%: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/617044
VAT Complete Removal: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/614072
You can view all open petitions calling for changes to VAT here: petition.parliament.uk/petitions?q=vat&state=open
If you want the Government to do something different to any of the petitions that are currently open, you could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
