Petition Action

Introduce in Universal Credit amendments to the current minimum wage dependence.

Petition Details

Should not effect Help to buy ISA and Pensions accounts to calculate UC unless are used for living.
Increase amount maximum savings to still qualify for UC. It should increase with the National living wage and backdated 5 years to be fair as that should be included when introduced scheme.

Additional Information

UC in 2010where the minimum wage was £ 5.93 and the maximum savings that the applicant can have £ 16,000, I have no information that this amount has increased where the minimum wage has increased to today's level of £ 9.50. Quick calculation is directly proportional to the minimum wage, this amount should be 25632.377 there you got explaniation how I calculate this: (16000 / 5.93 = 2698.145) so (2698.145 * 9.5 = 25632.377). So in 2022 should be 26k to correspond min wage.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
