Petition Action

Justice for wheelie bin theft.

Petition Details

It should be an offence to steal somebody else’s wheelie bin and there should not be a charge for a replacement bin by local governing councils.

Additional Information

Many people around the UK have their wheelie bins stolen everyday and have to pay over £50 to have them replaced. This needs to be addressed and the people of the UK need support at this difficult time.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Theft is already a criminal offence. Decisions about investigating and prosecuting alleged crimes are a matter for the police and Crown Prosecution Service, not the Government or Parliament.

If you think that a crime has been committed, you should contact the police here: www.police.uk/contact/

Decisions about the provision of waste collection, including charges for bins, are a matter for individual local authorities, not the UK Government or Parliament.
