Petition Action

Scrap Energy Standing Charges & VAT on Fuel

Petition Details

The country is in an unprecedented cost of living crisis, energy companies ate making huge profits, the effect of what’s going on in Ukraine and Russia is all being felt around the world with food, energy & all kinds of things that now cost us more to get by everyday.

People in poverty & stuggle.

Additional Information

It’s now time to stop this absolute madness & support people properly. This isn’t the fault of ordinary working people in society but it also affects the very vulnerable too who will struggle to choose between eating, starving or freezing.

These charges apply whether you use energy or not. A 54% rise last April, now we are looking at a another potential catastrophic 64% rise.

SCRAP STANDING CHARGES & VAT immediately so people can have a better standard of living.

ITS TIME TO ACT NOW !!

Decisions about standing charges are a matter for utility providers and Ofgem, not the UK Government or Parliament. The price cap is a cap on a unit of gas and electricity, with standing charges taken into account. Find out more about the energy price cap, including how it includes standing charges, here: www.ofgem.gov.uk/check-if-energy-price-cap-affects-you
