Entertainment for Everyone Charter: Stop Disability Discrimination at Festivals
We would like the Government to work with the hospitality sector to create a charter that supports equitable experiences at festivals for disabled patrons.
We want to see a charter with commitments to making sure festivals do not exclude disabled people, and accountability for implementing these.
This is important because public events and entertainment can set an example in a lot of ways for the rest of society, and making festivals more accessible could help to ensure that disabled people can interact with the broader population, to ensure better social cohesion & equality.
We believe a charter on entertainment for everyone should help:
- To protect disabled people from harm; physical, emotional & social harm
- To remove the barriers that impede on how disabled people are able to participate in society
- To progress the conversation around equality
