SAVE STUDENT MENTAL HEALTH
We want the government to implement country wide teacher training, so that teaches can better understand mental health, in order to help students improve theirs.
The government has the power and influence to be able to create new training for teachers, on a country wide scale. This will give us the best chances of being able to improve a large proportion of the British, student body's mental health.
You can't sign this petition because it was rejected. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We understand that you are concerned about the mental health of students, but we're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. Teachers already undergo training before becoming a teacher, and the Initial Teacher Training (ITT) Core Content Framework includes content on consideration of SEND, Disadvantage and Mental Health: assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/974307/ITT_core_content_framework_.pdf
We could accept a petition calling for changes to the ITT framework, but it would need to be clear what changes you want.
We have published the following petitions, which you might like to sign:
Create a statutory Mental Health & Wellbeing Policy for all schools & colleges: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/611264
Increase funding for mental health support in schools: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/607356
