Petition Action

Make those who organise a strike liable to pay compensation .

Petition Details

I want Parliament to give people the right to claim compensation from those who call and organise a strike if they are financially harmed by strike action.

Additional Information

People have the right to strike, however, they do not have the right to make people suffer financially as a result of their strike action. For too long, people have suffered financial hardships because of the actions of others. I want tis suffering as a result of strike acion to stop, and setting a right to compensation is law would protec many people.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We can only accept petitions about things the Government or Parliament are directly responsible for.

Where the provision of a good or service is affected by strike action, customers may be able to seek remedy or compensation under existing consumer rights. Unions are responsible for representing workers, but do not have any direct contractual relationships with consumers, and it would not therefore be possible for consumers to seek compensation for strike actions from unions.
