Pay carers who look after someone at home the same as working NHS carers
People who care for a family relative at their home on a full-time basis, receive £69.70 per week (approximately £3600 per year). A community carer can earn upwards of £20,000 per year (before tax). At home carers should be paid the same as they are unable to work due to their commitments at home.
Many people who care for a loved one at home, will do so unconditionally, but at the same time they are struggling financially as they are unable to work. In many cases, not even on a part-time basis. This is unacceptable and they should be rewarded for their commitment and not struggle to pay the bills just because a loved one needs round-the-clock care.
